I did not have to
travel far, to view blossoms-
For now, this will do...

I took this photo in my neighborhood,
the cold winds kept me from going to Kyodo no Mori park...

Because of the cold weather, the viewing of the Ume Matsuri (Plum Festival)
has been extended, to March 21st, this year...

I have a concert this Friday I don't want to be sick for!

I will visit very soon, and take photos of their gorgeous and varied plum blossoms!

In Memoriam

Recently, I've learned of the passing of 2 friends.
Glenn G., a guitarist and friend, from my first band "The Watkins Family",
has passed away.
There are so many memories of those times, music played together,
and the laughs and crazy times...
I've known him since we were teenagers.
He was a very talented person.
God Speed, Glenn...

Another friend from my Ikebana (Japanese flower arranging) class,
Rebecca, has passed on.
She was a kind and gentle person, I will remember her smile.
I have many memories of us all together, enjoying our class and each other's company...

I chose an overcast day to visit the park's plum festival,
this year-
Without the deep blue sky as a backdrop,
or the bright sunlight's shadows...

I like the muted softness of this overcast light,
how it brings out color and shapes...

" Deep Pink "

I took a bike ride to Kyodo No Mori Park, yesterday.
It was a perfect day to be outside,
and the blossoms are magnificent!

It has been a mild winter,
so there are earlier blooms, this year...
To be honest, they felt right on time, to me.

" Bonsai Plum Blossoms, 2019 "

I took a bike ride to Kyodo no Mori Park, yesterday.
It’s early in the season for plum blossoms,
but the weather was so warm,
I packed up my paints, and went anyway…

The park has updated since last season; upon entrance
the tickets are done on a machine,
and you pass through an automated gate…

The blossoms are lovely,
even if I was a bit early, the ones that were blooming were so beautiful,
carrying the scent of early Spring…

It was difficult to find a place to paint,
but as always, after a walk around the park,
a place always presents itself- this time amongst the bonsai plum trees…

I took a few snaps, on my walk around:

“ Colors of Spring ”

It was another spectacular day to be outside, yesterday.

The plum blossoms of Kyodo No Mori park, beckoned…

The colors, the warm sun, combined with the scent of the plum blossoms
in the breeze, truly brings a feeling of Spring approaching…

“ Plum Blossoms, Warm Day ”

( 24 cm X 26.6 cm )

I took advantage of the unseasonably warm temps, today!

I packed up my painting gear,
and bicycled out to Kyodo No Mori park…

Without a heavy coat, I was able to carry all my gear successfully.

I will return to the park again, very soon, just to linger,
and photograph the lovely blooms…

The season for plum blossoms at Kyodo No Mori
is Feb. 6th, ~ March 13th…

"Solo"

On Saturday, it was a beautiful warm day...

A perfect day to join my friends for a visit to Kyodo No Mori,
for plum blossom viewing!

It's now a week into the season,
so many blooms were open, but many more will open!

This most certainly means a return visit...

The light was magical, when we all met at 2pm...
