On Saturday, it was a beautiful warm day...
A perfect day to join my friends for a visit to Kyodo No Mori,
for plum blossom viewing!
It's now a week into the season,
so many blooms were open, but many more will open!
This most certainly means a return visit...
The light was magical, when we all met at 2pm...

It was a fabulous afternoon,
I didn't see (or hear) an uguisu yet,
but maybe next time...

Sunday, I spent the day at Kyodo No Mori,
walking and painting...
I packed up all my materials, and went by bicycle to the park...
I wasn't sure where to set my cap,
until almost walking a full circle.
I looked inside a graveled drive,
and a fleck of cornflower blue caught my eye...

I was saddened to learn of Ray Manzarek's passing...
I've always loved this song,
and Ray's elegant keyboard on it :

Thursday, I went to Kyodo No Mori,
a beautiful forest-like historical site, in my neighborhood...
My friend, Iijima-san,
joined me.
I so enjoy strolling around this space...

to the well-kept gardens, streams, and ponds :

Yesterday I rode out on my bicycle,
to visit the spot where I was a year ago,
during the big earthquake,
on March 11, 2011.
The sun was out,
so I decided to continue out to the Kyodo no Mori Park,
for the Ume-Matsuri. (Plum Blossom Festival)
Due to the cold weather we've been experiencing,
the blooms are late; and the date of this event has been extended
to March 20th.
As of yesterday, the blossoms are just starting to open...

Last Sunday,
I met with my one of my dearest long-time friends here in Japan,
Michael R.,
and his girlfriend Akemi.
Michael is leaving Japan,
and after 18 plus years,
it breaks my heart to say à bientðt,
to him.
We all met to see the Jackson Pollock show;
Jackson Pollock: Centennial Retrospective,
at National Museum of Modern Art, (MOMAT)
in Takebashi, Tokyo.
February 10- May 5th, 2012
The show was absolutely amazing!
