August Portrait

As a jazz vocalist/member of All About Jazz,
and the recent celebration of their 30th year,
(I've been listing my gigs from Japan
from the beginning!)
I was gifted a livestream link to a performance
at Smoke Jazz Club,
(at my old neighborhood on the Upper West Side, NYC,
the place was "Augie's", then.)

It was a pleasure to watch and listen to this livestream,
and the celebration of a great quintet's
Album release: "Split Decision".

I've been declared well!
'Been tough, I miss my long hair

My sister Debra came home on May 4th,
carrying the tiniest black kitten,
in a cardboard box.

2 grey-green eyes peered up at me,
(I have not had a feline pet since I was a child)
and this little kitten and I became instant pals...

Her name is Onyx, but I call her purr-ball...

These majestic trees
Fill my eyes as I look up
during a nice swim...

Saturday I went for my first swim this season.
Looking up, these trees caught my eye;
the effect the contrast of shadow
and slices of light and color have on me
is nothing short of fascination...

Capricorn Girl, on the Beach...

New Year 2025 Greetings, All!

I had an exciting NYE at Vero Beach, this year.
2 of my sisters were there, (Debra and Wendy)
and extended family as well,
all in the square celebrating with a great party/dance band,
to bring in the New Year...
I don't know the band's name, but they were solid-
Everyone was dancing and it was a fun time!

My birthday now approaches (Jan 9, Thurs.)
and although in past years on this occasion
I'd always perform my shows and celebrate,
this year it'll be just celebrate.

Sometimes, that can be enough...

On Winter Solstice...

My sister and I went to Vero beach today.
We had a relaxed, nice time.
It was a good place to send a prayer out
for the memory of my late husband, Akio,
and our wedding day,
at City Hall, NYC.

He's been gone 2 years now...

I remember it snowed after, as we made our way
to our small Chinatown dinner party.

Today, it's sunny Florida on first day of Winter...
