My last trip to Guam,
3 Summers ago,
I painted 4 watercolors,
and 15 Etegami postcards,
that I sent out to family and friends...
Today I present the 4
paintings...
Remembering Guam- Afternoons in solitude watching the light change...
Swimming in the pool a dragonfly says hello and "Hafa Adai!"

"Sweet Sour Guam"
Watercolor, Black Ink
2009
I bought this "sweet sour" fruit from the Chomorro Village Festival
held every Wednesday.
It looked so curiously odd, that I had to paint it,
and then, cut it open and taste it.
It tasted like banana, bitter lemon, and something indescribable;
as I've yet to discover it!
This fruit has a powerful "cleansing" effect.
If the strange taste doesn't
limit your intake,
this warning should!
I love visiting and rediscovering Guam,
every time I go.
I hope to visit again soon!
Till Next Time...

On Thursday, the 21st,
after the typhoon passed,
we got a nice respite from the ongoing heatwave;
pleasant, cool weather!
It was also the day the public pools finally opened.
But instead of wading in the waters,
my friend Michael and I
decided to get our Paul Klee
"fix."

When this beautiful eye catching piece
first appeared on adverts throughout trains,
and art billboards throughout Tokyo,
I was so jazzed to go see it...
But the heat, had me hesitant to brave the subway, till now!

"Summer Discovery,Unexpected find...
Ink, Watercolor on Washi poster paper
It was so hot yesterday.
We all met at our usual place for our monthly
Etegami session.
The thermostats in public buildings
are set at 28c.
I was sweating bullets,
but when I get started on a painting,
I am focused.
I was imagining being on the beach,
walking along the edge of the surf...
I used 2 seashells as inspiration.
I painted the bottom of my feet with ink
to get my "footprint"
on my sea foam-y beach scene...
Till Next Time...
