My last trip to Guam,
3 Summers ago,
I painted 4 watercolors,
and 15 Etegami postcards,
I sent out to family and friends...
Today I present the 4 paintings...
Remembering Guam-
Afternoons in solitude
watching the light change...
Swimming in the pool
a dragonfly says hello,
And "Hafa Adai!"

"Sweet Sour Guam"
Watercolor, Black Ink
I bought this "sweet sour" fruit from the Chomorro Village Festival
held every Wednesday.
It looked so curiously odd, that I had to paint it,
and then, cut it open and taste it.
It tasted like banana, bitter lemon, and something indescribable!
This fruit has a powerful "cleansing" effect.
If the strange taste doesn't
limit your intake,
let this warning!
I love visiting and rediscovering Guam,
every time I go.
I hope to visit again soon!
Till Next Time...

“ Welcome... ”
72 cm x 90 cm
(28.3” X 35.4”)
Gouache on canvas
This painting is of a wonderful memory.
After a long struggle with a back injury
and the rehabilitation it took to get there,
the universe seemed to whisper "Welcome..."
This is my view of Tumon, Guam-
The rainy season made for the dark misty clouds
creeping in on the left,
the brightness of the sun persisted on the right.
The angles and colors completely had me spellbound.
Till next time... 'Mela
