Autumn evenings,
experiencing music!
This is October…

Last night, I went to see my friend Ken Simon,
here in Tokyo, on a mini-tour, from NYC.
My old friend Hiroshi Yamamoto joined me to go see Ken and the guys
at Bright Brown, in Nakano…
The Ken Simon Quartet :
Ken Simon - tenor and soprano saxes, flute
Kazuhide Motooka - piano
Alan Gleason - bass
Tatsuya Nakamura - drums
The show was wonderful.
It was great to see Ken again, as well as Alan G., on bass
and Motooka-san on piano.
I played with Kazuhide Motooka long ago...
It was good to hear him play again!
It was my first time to meet drummer Tatsuya Nakamura,
his playing added a fiery dynamic to this well-balanced unit!
Ken was in great form, effortlessly changing instruments
with each tune selection...
A diverse roster of tunes it was, also.

It was an enchanted night, with Autumn’s chill in the air,
watching the street-fashion of people adapting to the weather,
seeing old friends once again,
and enjoying Live Jazz!
Till Next Time...

My gig at Half Tone went well.
It was biting cold outside!
My last gig of the year, so far, coincidentally,
is also where I started this year...
Joining me on piano was Hiroshi Tanaka.
Hiroshi and I worked together some time ago at Club Kei,
with Stan Gilbert, on bass.
Hiroshi was in excellent form,
it was a pleasure to work with him, once again.
On bass, was Alan Gleason.
We met this past Summer,
on one of the hottest nights, ever, in Tokyo.
I was going to a live house to see an old friend,
NYC based sax-man, Ken Simon, play.
Alan was on that gig.
I had heard of Alan before,
but this was our first time to work together...
He is a good fit; as I thought he would be,
when I heard him play on that extremely hot Summer night in July!
I felt very relaxed, singing with these guys.
Mr. Inada, owner/guitarist at Half Tone,
recorded the performance,
with future YOUTUBE uploads to come...
I'll keep you updated, on that...
Till Next Time...
