October is here My absolute favorite Sight, sound, taste, smell, touch... © 2010 Pamela MacCarthy
When I need to escape for a minute, I get on my bike and head for the river. The river is my dope.
I went late afternoon to cut some pampas grass, or susuki, as it's called here.
But no silver sprouts yet!
Other wild grasses, cosmos flowers, jumping grasshoppers, and a lone guitarist picking out a tune in the distance, were there ...
I walked along, at the time of day when everything gets a fiery glow- I found some gnarled, dried milkweed to cut...
Till Next Time...

I auditioned yesterday for some away dates for next year. In the process, I met another fellow musician and New-Yorker, and saw many vocalist & musician friends I haven't seen in awhile...
These things should occur more often!
Tonite's my date at the The Shiba Park Hotel...

Yesterday, my students of English Conversation took me to lunch at a lovely café in our vicinity...
It features an English styled garden, with a pathway to roses, seasonal flowers, herbs, and grasses...
Inside, are the dining rooms, with outdoor terraces.
First, we were served a cold rose hip tea that was very refreshing after our walk in the humidity and heat of the rainy season.
The food was delicious, and my students and I enjoyed the lunch, served with freshly baked raisin & cranberry bread.
I loved the beautiful English-style crockery; teacups & saucers, & teapots all daintily hand-painted with roses...
After lunch, we walked through the garden.
Although peak time for roses was in May, we were still able to see and smell a few beauties :
