Today, it snows! The first, of the season, in Tokyo...
We have not had a bit of precipitation in 37 days!
It started as a drizzle last night, and this morning, big, fat snowflakes were falling.
I enjoyed riding my bicycle through it, on my way to the train to my monthly Etegami session...
Our group's leader and organizer, Hamada-sensei, brought fresh tulips, Setsubun items; oni-masks, beans, and knick knacks, as possible subjects for today's session.
What caught my eye were a pair of miniature barley-grass woven Japanese Fuka-gutsu (snow boots).
They measured about 2 inches (5.1 cm) tall :

Snow Boots (Fuka-gutsu)
I chose this as my subject, on this first hint of snow, day...
I love the detail of the woven straw, with the adorable red canvas bows...
