Today is the first day of Spring, a holiday, here in Japan.
But more importantly for me, it is my son Michio's 21st birthday!
It feels bittersweet, somehow...
From the minute he came into my life, it has made all the difference. I never thought I'd ever be a mom. I didn't think motherhood was for me, or that I'd be any good at it. But for the past 21 + years, it has been one of the most fulfilling jobs I've ever chosen to do, and I thank God for the opportunity. I say job, because I believe that's what it is. Raising a child is the most important job there is. I am happy and thankful that my son has grown into a warm and caring individual, who will make a difference in the world. I'd proud to be part of that, as his mother.
Happy Birthday, Michio!

I've entered the Annual Art Print 2007,
at Lessedra Gallery,
in Sophia, Bulgaria, once again.
Last year was my first year to participate.
I was one of 525 international artists.
The catalogue is excellent!
I've entered three of my most recent digital art works this year:
"FLU, or CABIN FEVER?" (2006)
"SOLO" (2006)
"Marigold" (2006)

"The Plum Blossoms"
45 X 37.5 cm oil pastel, Aquarelle watercolor pencils, India ink, gouache
In February, I created this painting as a commission. I decided to re-explore a technique using a medium combination I used 10 or more years ago. Now, painting mostly in gouache, I've missed the "drawing" aspect of using oil pastels... Here is a painting I did from 12 years ago, in this style...

"The Snowball Tree" collection of K.Tsuboi
37 cm x 26 cm oil pastel & watercolor
A poem popped in my head, just recently. The subject was of the time when I created "The Snowball Tree." I wrote it down, right away...
I sat on my mothers lawn, sketching "The Snowball Tree" I didn't know she was standing by the clothesline, near to me... Mozart was playing on my headphones, in the sky a storm was starting to form- My mother stood at a distance watching her firstborn...
