Today is the first day of Spring,
a holiday, here in Japan.
But more importantly for me,
it is my son Michio's 21st birthday!
It feels bittersweet, somehow...
From the minute he came into my life,
it has made all the difference.
I never thought I'd ever be a mom.
I didn't think motherhood was for me,
or that I'd be any good at it.
But for the past 21 + years,
it has been one of the most fulfilling jobs
I've ever chosen to do,
and I thank God for the opportunity.
I say job, because I believe that's what it is.
Raising a child is the most important job there is.
I am happy and thankful that my son has grown
into a warm and caring individual,
who will make a difference in the world.
I'd proud to be part of that, as his mother.
