Last night, was a night of magical music!
As the guest of Valerie Judd,
I went to see and hear the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra
at Bunko Kaikan, in Ueno.
Valerie and I have a mutual friend,
my old buddy and college mate, Robbin,
who informed me of Valerie's upcoming visit to Tokyo.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra
was conducted by James Judd,
Valerie's husband.
30 minutes before showtime, Valerie and I had no trouble finding each other,
2 very tall girls, in Tokyo!
We got acquainted; Valerie is a mother, a musican; a viola player,
and also an ex-New Yorker...
We reminisced, and paid our respects to the late mayor, Ed Koch...
Soon, it was showtime!
Edward Elgar : Cockaigne Overture
Ludwig Von Beethoven : Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major
Piano : Francesco Piemontesi
Intermission
Vaughan Williams : Symphony No. 4 in f Minor
Francesco Piemontesi's piano work on
L.V. Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major,
was wonderful.
He is a rising star!
The performance of both Orchestra and Conductor,
on Vaughan William's Symphony No. 4 in f Minor,
was nothing short of brilliant.
I was spellbound, by the piece's emotional power,
and inspired by it...
I imagine listening to this piece,
while painting my next canvas!
James Judd : conductor
Francesco Piemontesi : piano
A fabulous evening.
Valerie took me backstage to meet James,
and I congratulated him on a great performance.
Perhaps later this week,
on Friday, April 12th,
Valerie and James might join me,
for a night of the Jazz persuasion;
at my performance at BLUE FLAME
Pamela MacCarthy - vocals
原 とも也 Tomoya Hara - guitar
Till Next Time...
