The Golden Week holiday is upon us, here in Japan.
For many, that means 1 week off, to travel...
For me, it means nice weather and slightly quieter streets...
Today, I was able to go to my Etegami class, after being housebound for a week and a half with a kick-ass cold.
I was glad to be able to go out and see my friends once again.
On the way to class this morning, I found a most beautiful flower blooming wild in front of my house...
A deep, rich purple. They are called tsuyukusa, here...

Pamela MacCarthy Live at the Artists Cafe 4-17-2010
Nao Suzuki (piano) Pamela MacCarthy (vocals) Ichi Takata (bass)
My show at the Artist Cafe went very well.
I am especially thankful for all who came out to see me...
My son, Michio, whom just finished his Spring semester at University, came out to take photos. A group of my students of English Conversation came out as well, as did a few dear, longtime friends...
Nao was especially brilliant on "Spring Can Really Hang You Up The Most".
We had a rehearsal days earlier; she has a most excellent Bechstein piano at her place.
The last time I performed that song was 1996.
I was a smoker, then. 14 Springs later, my sentiment is changed, and my key is a half step higher.
I now perform this song in A-flat...

I'll be appearing once again at the Artist Cafe, Tokyo Dome Hotel, 43F, on Saturday, April 17th.
The lovely and talented Nao Suzuki, will join me on piano, Ichi Takata on bass.
I will be performing 3 shows, starting from 7:30 pm.
I enjoy Nao's accompaniment.
She has precision, a great ear, and together with her delicate delivery adds a nice balance to the mix.
I look forward our show...
