My gig at B-Flat, Akasaka went pretty well.
I wore a beautiful Cheongsam, I ordered to be custom made, from The Chinese Tailor.
Their store is located in Hong Kong, and I can't say enough good things about their service, the workmanship of their clothes, and the quality of their fabrics.
I have always dreamed of having such a dress...

Musically, it was an experiment gone in a good direction.
Special thanks to all the guys, especially Keisaku Takahashi; on piano, who also did a fair bit of arranging on 4 new tunes- Tomoya Hara, on both electric & acoustic guitars- Mark Tourian, who played on some beautiful electric basses- Mike Resnikoff, on drums, and a special guest appearance by Colin Grafton, on harmonica/blues harp.
I played my resonator on Big Rock Candy Mountain, which Colin joined me on.
Set list:
Shanghai Blues (original) The Nearness of You Brazil How About You? The "In " Crowd
Second show:
That's Life Out of the Rain The Big Rock Candy Mountains Blue Skies Route 66
Had it not been for the competition of the World Cup elimination match between Japan and Brazil scheduled for later that evening, I think we might've had a better turn out.
Thanks to Rika at the Asahi Shinbum for her nice promotional write up. Also The Japan Times, The Metropolis, The Daily Yomiuri, and many other magazines and newspapers that listed me and wrote blurbs...
There were some old friends, and some new ones who came out to support us, and to them all, I say, Thank you!
My son Michio was there helping me, I was so thankful for that. He carried my guitar in a fab lightweight case my sister Wendy sent me. He brought his buddy Yama-chan, along, for company. Later on, they both helped carry stuff home for me.
God Bless helpful young people!
Till next time...'Mela
