I went to see the Art Deco show recently with my friend, Hiroshi.
This show has been traveling, and finally has made it's way to Tokyo!
Amongst the many beautiful pieces in this show, one of my favorite painters of the Art Deco period, Tamara De Lempicka has two pieces in this show. This is one featured:
The Telephone, 1930 Tamara De Lempicka
I've always been inspired by the style of that era- The "Jazz Age."
In my opinion, the world may be "making progress", but the elegance of the Art Deco period, in music, fashion, and style, has yet to be surpassed...
Sometimes, especially after visiting this show, I truly long to have a time machine...
When they begin the beguine It brings back the sound of music so tender, It brings back a night of tropical splendor, It brings back a memory ever green
I’m with you once more under the stars, And down by the shore an orchestra’s playing And even the palms seem to be swaying When they begin the beguine
Begin the Beguine -Cole Porter
Till next time... 'Mela
