Today is the 90th anniversary of Billie Holiday’s birth.
I created this digital work,
inspired by William Gottlieb's photo,
to pay my respect to a singer who has inspired me.
I admire the spirit she possessed to carry on,
and create what she did-
What lives on in her recordings-
In spite of her troubles...
My digital homage will also be on the cover of the program
for my show with The Big Wing Jazz Orchestra,
Sunday, June 19th, 2005.
The Great American Songbook will be the theme of this concert...
