My friend Hiroshi took me to a fabulous place called DERORI...
I had a wonderful time there. It was a total art experience...
There was this beautiful light box art...
The design of the place is eclectic: A basement room with a bar and chiseled cement walls with silver pipes. Wrought iron fixtures and lamps, blue velvet drapes, framing a huge mirror. Pillows, candles, pearl inlay tables... The music jumped from Lou Reed & The Velvet Underground, Patti Smith, David Bowie, to Laurie Anderson & Beethoven...
And that's just this particular night.
The food was a mix of health food and ethnic but served so uniquely. This was the place I didn't know I was in the mood for. Special thanks to Akio, Takichi, & Kazuko for this treasure. And of course to Hiroshi for showing me this place. It's located in Shibuya, but I felt like I was in late 70's early 80's NYC, downtown. I felt in an element long passed, but returned in a new light.
A great evening...
I'm preparing for the end of my show at Cafe CoCoLo. Early Tuesday morning, it comes down... But my news for today is:
I have another show planned for the merry merry month of May at Jazz Spot "J", Shinjuku. Meladramas: On Stage At Last! will be condensed, and travelling, cherie... At this show, there will be 16 of my computer art prints in mats and frames for exhibition, and for sale.
More details soon.
I'm still thinking of the enchanting place I visited last night...
They call you ecstasy
Nothing ever sticks to you
Not velcro, not scotch tape
Not my arms dipped in glue
Not if i wrap myself in nylon
A piece of duct tape down my back
Love pierced the arrow with the twelve
And i can't get you back
Ah, ecstasy
Ecstasy
Ah, ecstasy
Ecstasy -Lou Reed
Till next time... 'Mela
