The New Years’ holiday is all but over.
In Japan, it is a slow-down of everything for the first 3 days
of January.
Some people go back to their hometowns,
and things become less crowded
than usual in town.
Usually, the air is cleaner where I am, a bit outside of Tokyo,
(except on a “burn” day, they incinerate trash here)
but during this holiday all major factories are closed,
so the air is so clear that you see Mt. Fuji on the horizon...
My son Michio and I have been working together to prepare
the pieces for my art show in February.
After Hiroshi printed and delivered 50 pieces of my computer art,
we now take over the preparations.
Using a type of board to back the pictures with,
each must be measured, cut, and lined up properly
to be mounted to the picture.
It sounds a lot easier than it is-
I’m sure anyone in wallpaper knows what I mean...
My birthday is coming up this Sunday, January 9th.
I have done birthday / live concert shows in the past,
but this year will be different.
I have no plans at present.
I get chills thinking that I had entertained the idea of going to
Thailand for an after-Christmas holiday-
I wanted to visit Phi-Phi Island.
But because my son has college exams,
I thought it best to stay put,
and allow the chuckwagon cook,
and motivational speaker to work
on this holiday.
Then, the news of my art show came,
completely obliterating the notion of going on a trip.
I say a prayer for all the souls lost in the tsunami -
And one for the souls who survived...
Till next time... ‘Mela
