When I was a kid, I listened to every kind of music.
The radio was always on, in my house-
I loved it all...
As I got older, I tended to dislike Country music.
I can’t say why, it just didn’t suit me.
It isn’t my favorite today,
but some of my disdain has fallen away:
There are some country songs that are just plain good songs.
When I listen to them now,
while being mobile,
it gives me a feeling of solidarity to listen to it...
Jazz & Blues is my thing,I feel great, when I perform it-
But listening to Country music while being here in Japan,
and out of context, it has a surreal quality-
Sometimes that’s enough to brighten my day...
Here’s a list of some of my fav’s:
Coal Miner’s Daughter- Loretta Lynn
Crazy - Patsy Cline
You Ain’t Woman Enough - Loretta Lynn
Sweet Dreams - Patsy Cline
Brother Jukebox - Mark Chesnutt
Goodtime Charlie’s Got The Blues - Charlie Rich
Wildflowers - Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris
Highway Call - Dicky Betts
Sweet Home Alabama - Lynard Skynard
Chances Are - Bob Seger, Martina McBride
Stand By Your Man - Tammy Wynette
He Stopped Loving Her Today - George Jones
Wichita Lineman - Glen Campbell
I Never Promised You A Rose Garden - Lynn Anderson
Help Me Make It (Through The Night) - Sammi Smith
Aimee - Pure Prairie League
Whiskey River - Wille Nelson
I uprooted myself from my home ground and left
Took my dreams and I took to the road
When a flower grows wild, it can always survive
Wildflowers don't care where they grow
Wildflowers

Till next time... 'Mela
