Today, I will take my canvas in to have the frame fitted on.
I ordered it a week ago, and now my canvas is ready.
I finished it on my mother's birthday, Aug 18th.
One thing I find a right pain in the keyster
is the medium-
You can be a gifted painter,
and have a wonderful finished work,
but that damned medium is like laquer.
It is very delicate to apply,
and can cause troubles.
Bubbles, flaking, and ridges
are all part of the headache of using a medium to seal your work.
Which in my case is a necessity,
as I use acrylic gouache.
I came away reasonably unscathed by bubbles,
but it was no small hoop to jump through.
Then there are the mistral-type winds...
I photographed it yesterday,
which had to be the hottest day of the year!
I like to photograph it in the light it is painted in,
and in this case, it was bright midday sun.
I had trouble keeping the canvas from toppling over,
because of the wind and the painting's large size...
But I finally got it.
Today is the pay-off to see it framed...
Sunday is the competition.
Regardless of the outcome,
I want to thank Hiroshi
for all his help & support.
Wish me luck...
Till next time... 'Mela
