She & I were born in the same year,
me the first month,
her, the last.
So I pass the torch,
and pray this year will bring
all the love, joy, good health and happiness,
a person can have!
Stuck In The Middle With You
(G.Rafferty, J. Egan)
My sister Debra & I partook
of Fort Pierce's Jetty restaurant's 'Margarita Monday',
and then spent a few hours
watching the waves, birds, and surfers...
It's in my private collection.
I still remember painting it,
in our first apt/home in Japan:
Setting up the still life;
using an old indigo striped yukata
as a background, with a pumpkin,
and a green and yellow squash.
The lovely ceramic vase,
I found in a nearby market,
and then added the colorful flowers
of November,
3 chrysanthemums...
This painting sits in a double mat,
in a heavy metal frame with glass...
December's tapping at my window...

It's been a tough year,
but a good one.
I'm thankful to God,
Debra & Jim, my family,
and my dear friends, near and far!
Thanks to my doctors and all the wonderful people
who worked with me in the healthcare world,
who made a tough time easier,
also the many drivers, who offered empathetic conversation,
as well as smooth rides...
Oh, and this little girl,
who arrived in May, in the midst of it,
a wee kitten then, who appears now
as I'm photographing today's still life,
to say "And wuddabout me?!"
I have a lot to be thankful for,
but I confess I don't like formal holidays.
In Japan I grew so comfortable loosely following them-
But I do hope to see my son, it has been a while...
