I'm remembering...
Disco nights & you
Intoxication

Music beckoned
HUK-APOO and platform shoes
Gin & tonic, lime

Mirror-ball sparkles
Addiction, dissipation
Sweet, wonderful bliss

I started my professional singing career
performing Disco & Funk music.

When last week's American Idol show featured "Disco",
I thought, yeah, right...
this should be interesting!

Disco started out as a means
to relieve the tedium & doldrums of persistent unemployment
during Jimmy Carter's recession.

It caught on globally, and became a phenomenon!

Musicians, & dope-dealers were working, man!

Something unique & fabulous was created,
much more than just a music genre.

A liberation from the hum-drum,
it forever connected and enticed all that felt that four-on-the-floor back beat !

I somehow can't fathom the American Idol kids grasping this.

But then again, a lot of the same ingredients are again in the mix...

What will be the next?

Here is my DISCO! iPod update:

Pick Up the Pieces - Average White Band
Dance Dance Dance - Chic
Aint No Stopping Us Now - McFadden & Whitehead
This Time, Baby - Jackie Moore
There But For the Grace of God - Machine
Mighty Real - Sylvester

Howdy, Hi there!

It's been lovely 'round this neck of the woods.
Weather-wise, anyway.

I have no photos from my last gig.
It was, in actuality, my last gig, at that establishment,
for awhile...

Budget cuts, bla-di bla-di bla-di bla.

I'm so restless lately, I can hardly stand it!

I had my Ikebana class today.
I always enjoy this time with
my girl- friends,
and the beautiful fresh flowers!

Romantic sponges, they say, do it,
Oysters, down in Oyster Bay, do it,
Let's do it, let's fall in love.
Cold Cape Cod clams, 'gainst their
wish, do it,
Even lazy jellyfish do it,
Let's do it, let's fall in love.
Electric eels, I might add, do it,
Though it shocks 'em, I know.
Why ask if shad do it?
Waiter, bring me shad roe.
In shallow shoals, English soles do it.
Goldfish, in the privacy of bowls, do it.
Let's do it, let's fall in love.

The dragonflies, in the reeds, do it,
Sentimental centipedes do it,
Let's do it, let's fall in love.
Mosquitoes, heaven forbid, do it,
So does ev'ry katydid do it,
Let's do it, let's fall in love.
The most refined lady bugs do it,
When a gentleman calls,
Moths in your rugs, do it,
What's the use of moth balls?
Locusts in trees do it, bees do it,
Even overeducated fleas do it,
Let's do it, let's fall in love.

Let's Do It

-Cole Porter
as sung by Leslie "Hutch" Huchinson

The Cherry Blossoms have started to pop,
in my backyard.

I took some close-up photos of the new blossoms
with my mobile phone camera,
and digitally created this :

See more of my digital work here.

I'm hoping that the temperatures will warm up somewhat,
it is still too cold and windy
to sit outside for a Hanami party!

Tomorrow, April 3rd, is my gig at Tokyo Main Dining.

Saturday, April 4th,
will be a combination Hanami Party and Indonesian Dance performance.

A group of my girlfriends have been rehearsing
for weeks with Wiwied; a friend and teacher of Indonesian Dance,
for this event in my neighborhood.

I hope to post some pics from both events!
