“Sunflowers”
37.5 X 45cm.
Acrylic gouache
I present my new painting, "Sunflowers"...
This was a commissioned work, and now belongs to Hiroshi Y.
My gig last night at Jazz Spot "J" went well. Together with Keisaku Takahashi- piano, Mark Tourian- bass, and Yosuke Hase on drums, we put on a good show.
I presented Hiroshi his painting.
There was a photographer in the audience, who took some excellent shots of our performance, I will post later.
More news, I will have a Digital Art show at Jazz Spot "J" for the month of October, 2005!
Stay tuned for details!

Happy Birthday to my mother, Shirley.
Today is her day, and although I can’t be there with her, my thoughts are there.
Michio is taking his placement test for Temple University Japan, today.
Tomorrow is my gig at JAZZ SPOT “J”.

I've finally finished the new Harry Potter book, The Half-Blood Prince.
What a bummer.
The last book before it, The Order of the Phoenix was a bummer, too.
I was enthralled each and every minute of reading them, though... I guess you don't have to like where the story goes, just the story being told.
J.K. Rowling has a fantastic penchant for storytelling.
I'm curious to know how the latter 2 books will translate to movie form. I anxiously await the film Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire...
My painting is done! I will photograph it today. I hope to post my new work very soon.
My gig at Jazz Spot "J" is coming up this Friday, the 19th.
And then, one week from today, it's vacation-land...

“ Chinese Trumpet Flowers ”
1999
45.5 cm x 53 cm gouache on canvas
This is a painting I did a few years back in August.
There is a bit of contrast to my older paintings to the newer ones-
I don't use black outlines for contrast anymore.
I've discarded them, and the idea of them like training wheels on a bicycle-
I simply don't need them anymore .
The flowers in this painting, Nozen Kazura in Japanese
are everywhere I look, now...
They grow on a sort of vine,
that wraps and drapes on tall shrubbery / trees.
The flowers drop onto the ground
and replenish often during their bloom into
September...

I've been pretty busy, working on my new painting. I work about 4 hours a day- As long as the premium light holds out...
I'm using the late afternoon light to read Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince. Add daily shopping and basic household chores, and I've got a full day.
I'm making progress- My deadline's the 19th.
I've been listening to my Dog Days collection of tunes (I mentioned a couple of days ago) while I paint, and that Shivaree singer, Ambrosia Parsley, does have a bewitching voice.
Doncha just love her name?
There’s a nail in the door And there’s glass on the lawn Tacks on the floor And the tv is on And I always sleep with my guns When you’re gone
There’s a blade by the bed And a phone in my hand A dog on the floor And some cash on the nightstand When I’m all alone the dreaming stops And I just can’t stand
What should I do I’m just a little baby What if the lights go out and maybe And then the wind just starts to moan Outside the door he followed me home
Well goodnight moon I want the sun If it’s not here soon I might be done No it won’t be too soon ’til I say Goodnight moon
Goodnight Moon -Shivaree
